The Story behind the photo

Taken in the Lemaire Channel on an overcast day with low clouds, this shot captures one of the peaks just starting to emerge through the mist. The conditions were so still, everything felt muffled - just soft light, sea ice and towering mountains barely visible. I wanted to keep this photo simple to reflect how stripped back it felt to sail through this awe-inspiring place.

Here’s what makes each print special:

  • Ink: Canon Lucia Pro Pigment Inks

  • Printer: Canon imagePROGRAF PRO Series

  • Paper: Fotospeed NST Bright White 315 Signature Paper – a gorgeous 315gsm matte paper made from 100% cotton rag, with a soft, natural texture. It’s Fine Art Trade Guild–approved and, with these inks, is designed to last over 85 years.

The listed size is the paper size. Each print has a thin white border on the top, left and right, with a deeper white border on the bottom for signing and numbering. This means it’s easy to trim for US-standard frames. Prints are unframed and unmounted – this way, you can choose a frame that suits your home or workspace perfectly.

The Print

This photograph is part of a limited edition of just 35 prints, split between:

  • A3 – 20 prints

  • A2 – 15 prints

Each one is a hand-signed archival giclée print that I create myself in my home studio. I only sign and number a print once I’m completely happy with the quality, and every order comes with a certificate of authenticity – my personal seal of approval.

Delivery

Your print will be made to order, carefully signed, and packed by me. Because of this, please allow up to 10 working days for delivery. If you’re ordering internationally, please note that any import duties are the buyer’s responsibility – it’s worth checking what these may be in your country before purchasing.

This image will never be released as an open edition, but I may use it in curated projects like calendars, exhibitions, or box sets.
